His Excellency, Dr. Raed Mohammed Bin Shams, the Director General of the Bahrain Institute for Public Administration (BIPA) stated that the International Community has praised the implementation of the “BeAware” application for a consious society which was launched by the Information and E-government Authority at the start of the Corona pandemic in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Health and the Ministry of Health.
The Implementation came at the directives His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, May Allah protect His Highness, to support the national efforts to combat the Corona Virus (Covid-19).
He made the announcement during his participation in the Forum on “The status and advantages of digitization in the governance of African Territorial Groups”, which included representatives from the public and private sectors, institutions of the international community and a number of regional and international organizations.
Dr. Bin shams added that the Application “BeAware” is a comprehensive national platform that uses technology and adaptation of all available means and best and optimal use of the latest technologies and smart devices which enhances the protection of society and combats the spread of the corona virus, and this has drawn the attention of the regional and international community to the strength of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strong technological capabilities and innovative ideas which are continuously transformed by national competencies into targeted projects with tangible impacts.
His excellency pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain is today one of the leading countries in keeping abreast with digital and industrial intelligence and we are today at a stage that requires making innovation a permanent part of the culture in the various segments of the society, towards maintaining advanced and sustainable performance which contributes to achieving national Goals.
Dr. Bin Shams further explained that the Institute for Public Administration (BIPA) has made use in the recent period of a group of distinguished national cadres from various government establishments and provided them with the best scientific methodologies and international best practices at the hands of international experts specialized in innovation, which has contributed in their developing of innovative government projects, which will definitely contribute to enhance the public sector. Among such projects was a project to involve the citizens in government policy making which centrally aims to make the citizen a major contributor in process of governmental policy making via two methods one of them a short-term plan through an Idea competition and the application of communication and other government initiatives and the other a long term plan via a digital platform that contributes to the active participation of the citizens.
